In a Channels TV interview, Professor Charles Soludo promised to “Create a peaceful, livable and prosperous homeland by having dialogues with Pro-Biafra agitators in the state”

The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Sọludo, has called for state-wide dialogue with Pro-Biafra groups in the state, as well as other aggrieved groups alleged to be causing unrest in the state.

The governor called for a dialogue during a programme “Sunday Politics” on Channels Television. According to the Soludo, it is important to engage the groups in a dialogue because nothing favorable can be achieved with force.

A part of the aims of the dialogue is to end the sit-at-home order in the state as well as the detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

He said on the programme, “A time comes when you realise that you cannot shoot an ideology with a gun. When you see it exclusively as a law enforcement matter, then you miss the point. We got to engage them. We got to engage everyone to really understand the root of this.

“We don’t want to treat these people as statistics. To the criminals, we are offering an olive branch to repent. So to them we are also saying we are not condemning you, sin no more. Come out today, surrender those arms, we want to engage you back in society.”

Professor Charles Soludo has also set up a 15-man committee on Truth, Peace and Justice, the committee is to enable the state government  interface with agitators, so as to allow peace to return.

The members include: Prof Chidi Odinkalu, (Chairman) Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, (Member/Secretary), Dr. Joe Nwaorgu, Dr. Udenta Udenta, Dr. Uju Agomoh, Rev. Fr (Msgnr) Jerome Madueke; Canon Dr. Okechukwu C.
