In a remarkable display of commitment to gender inclusivity and representation in government, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has taken a historic step by appointing four women to his second-term cabinet. This momentous decision comes as a direct response to a letter sent by AdvoKC Foundation to the Governor's office, reminding him of his campaign promise to increase the number of female commissioners in the Oyo State Executive Council from two to four.

On August 9th, 2023, AdvoKC Foundation's Project Director, Habib Sheidu, penned a letter to Governor Seyi Makinde, drawing attention to the pledge made during the "Omituntun 2.0" campaign. The promise to enhance gender diversity in the executive council garnered significant attention and resonated deeply with advocates of gender equality and inclusivity in Oyo State.

The letter, addressed to Governor Makinde, respectfully reminded him of his commitment and emphasized the importance of gender diversity in governance. It highlighted the impressive track record of women as capable leaders and decision-makers across various sectors and urged the Governor to not only fulfill his promise but also set an example of gender inclusivity in positions of authority.

Governor Seyi Makinde's response to this call for action is indeed commendable. On September 14th, 2023, he swore in Miss Wasilat Adegoke as the Commissioner for Youths and Sports and Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetumobi as the Commissioner for Health. These appointments not only fulfill the promise made during the campaign but also demonstrate the Governor's dedication to creating a more inclusive and progressive Oyo State.

The AdvoKC Foundation applauds Governor Makinde for his commitment to gender inclusivity and for recognizing the importance of diverse perspectives in shaping policies and decisions that impact the lives of the people of Oyo State. The Foundation believes that this significant step will inspire other leaders and governments to prioritize gender equality in their appointments and governance structures.

As we celebrate this achievement, AdvoKC Foundation remains committed to advocating for gender inclusivity, women's empowerment, and the promotion of progressive policies that benefit all citizens of Oyo State. We extend our congratulations to Miss Wasilat Adegoke, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetumobi, and all the women who have dedicated themselves to serving the people of Oyo State in leadership roles.

Let us continue to work together to create a more equitable and inclusive future for Oyo State, where the voices and talents of all its citizens are heard and valued.
